IGNITE is a melodic hardcore band from Orange County, CA. Formed in 1993 the band comprised of Joe Nelson (vocals), Joe D. Foster (guitar), Brett Rasmussen (bass) and Casey Jones (drums). After recording their first 7″ ‘Where They Talk’ (released in Europe with bonus tracks on the ‘Scarred For Life’ CD) Joe Nelson left the band, being replaced by Zoli Teglas. The band released a full-length album in 1995 called ‘Call On My Brothers’ and the ‘Past Our Means’ EP in 1996. ‘Call On My Brothers’ was split into two seperate albums, ‘Family’ and ‘In My Time’, for the European market.
After some line-up changes, IGNITE made their TVT label debut with ‘A Place Called Home’ in 2000. The band now comprised of singer Zoli Teglas, bassist Brett Rasmussen, guitarist Brian Balchack (who had replaced Joe D. Foster), and drummer Craig Anderson (replacing Casey Jones). Achieving a dedicated following overseas, IGNITE toured extensively throughout the late ’90s. They played on the Vans Warped Tour, the U.K.’s Reading Festival, Hungary’s Pepsi Sziget Festival, and Sweden’s Hultsfred Festival, as well as dates with PENNYWISE and SICK OF IT ALL.
In the spring of 2001 IGNITE headlined the Vans ‘Off The Wall’ Club Tour in Europe and followed up that summer in Europe playing some of the biggest rock and metal festivals. The next few years were spent touring globally, opening new markets like South America and working on writing new material in the rehearsal studio. They signed to Abacus Recordings in mid-2005, entering the studio that fall to begin work on their next album. ‘Our Darkest Days’ appeared in 2006 and the band supported it on shows with RISE AGAINST, BLACKLISTED and SET YOUR GOALS.
Their long-awaited follow up ‘A War Against You’ was released on Century Media Records in 2016 and coincided with the EMP Persistance Tour, which IGNITE headlined. Since then the band has been touring all over the world while working on new material. Representing earth-minded organizations such as Earth First, Doctor Without Borders, and Sea Shepherd, IGNITE played several benefit shows with proceeds going to these particular groups, among others.
