Back in 1992, a couple of kids, who had been part of the scene since the mid 80’s, decided to start a band under the moniker RYKER’S. At the time, nobody would have been able to guess that this head-stomping outfit would soon be placed at the very top of the European hardcore scene within a couple of years.
After their successful debut 7“ ‘Kickback’ in 1993 the band signed to Lost & Found Records and released three albums (‘Payback Time’, ‘Brother Against Brother’ and ‘First Blood’) in the following years. After touring all over Europe with bands like MADBALL, MURPHY’S LAW, SFA or PUNISHABLE ACT, tons of festivals and a US tour (including shows at the legendary Dynamo Open Air, With Full Force, Dour Festival, Graspop, Lowlands, NYC’s CBGB’s and Wetlands) the band released two albums on Raw and two albums on Century Media. In 2000 the band split up and after playing a couple of shows in 2008 they finally got back together in 2013.
In 2014 the RYKER’S released ‘Hard To The Core’ on BDHW, followed by ‘Never Meant To Last’ in 2015, which was the first album without original singer Kid D., who left the band prior to the recording of the album. He was replaced by Dennis from BRIGHTSIDE. ‘The Beginning… Doesn’t Know The End’ marks the bands 10th studio album and it was released in 2019 on BDHW.
Nowadays, RYKER’S have inherited a prominent status which was, up until this point, only achieved by US hardcore acts. They are an established and familiar name amongst the scene’s followers and the amount of people wearing their shirts with pride are achieving true legion status. The success of this Kassel-based outfit does not only have to deal with the obvious hit-potential amongst their discography, but also the incredible intensity they expel in a live setting. These high-energy shows have without doubt paved the way for RYKER’S successful career in Germany.
